I use lighting devices like this every day to light candles at our bed & breakfast establishment.I was excited when I saw that Zippo had put one on the market because I was aware of Zippo's reputation for elegantly designed, reliable lighters.I have been disappointed to discover that although the thing looks pretty and appears to be well-made, it is clumsy and awkward to operate.The safety button is in the wrong place to be comfortably depressed while striking the lighter.Compared to other devices of this type, the Zippo does not have much distance between the flame and your hand making it difficult to light wicks that are down inside jar-type candles.Also, the fuel-level indicator is nearly impossible to see making it difficult to know when the thing needs re-filling.I am much happier with way cheaper such devices that are more versatile, user-friendly, and ergonomically designed.

Grilla Gear 3-Piece BBQ Tool Set Review

Grilla gear products seem to be well built, but they just don't last. The wraparound handles on the barbecue tools broke at the seam on 2 of the three tools during the second season of use. The black coating flakes off too. It's made to look anodized, but it's actually paint which may or may not be heat resistant.

I also owned the perforated vegetable skillet. Same problem with the coating. It started to chip of after I had used it three times. I will never buy another grilla gear product.

We've been looking for tiki torches that have a thicker wick, and these are great and put out a good amount of light. Many of the others we've found are nice, but the wick isn't very thick and therefore doesn't put out as much light. Some of the really nice ones that we've seen have been extremely expensive, especially if you want multiple torches, and these are very affordable and an excellent quality. The base and bowl are also very sturdy, and since the pole is in separate pieces, it will make it easier to store or move.

Lump charcoal is generally hard to find and expensive, but its extremely low ash production, fast lighting, and ability to be re-used in the right kind of grill make it well worth while.Milazzo lump charcoal works as well as any that I have found including the much more expensive Big Green Egg brand.It seems ridiculous buying charcoal over the web - and shipping does cost more that the charcoal - but the bottom line is not significantly worse than purchasing a more expensive brand locally.And in my area, where the local dealers are an incredible pain to deal with, this is an excellent alternative.

CFM HOME PRODUCTS #S700-8690 Type1 Gas Monitor Gauge Review

Gauge works well and gives you plenty of time to plan for swapping out old tank or having it refilled. Gauge has three scales allowing user to adjust interpretation of reading based on ambient tempertatures.
Haven't tried the cheaper guages that stick to outside of tank so can't comment on how well they work, though they are less expensive.
Recommended.

Primo Quick Lights Review

I just received this machine.I owned an original Bradley Smoker that gave up the ghost.When I saw the digital one for sale I thought that it would be more precise and a "set and forget" solution to smoking.I have tried it four times now and have discovered that the temperature variation on the unit is as much as 28 degrees over the set point and as much as 16 below the set point for a temp swing of 44 degrees.It turns out that Bradley has a forum for owners and those interested (look at their web site).Quite a number of new owners have been dismayed and disappointed in the temp swing on this unit.When I called Bradley they just said "that's the way it is with this unit" and told me it is similar to my house oven.I doubt that my home ever varies that much.The cycle time for this variation is 15-20 minutes so the food is never at the set point for very long.I don't recall swings like this with my old one.

If you look carefully at what you get for the hefty premium, it is not much.The basic unit has the automatic biscuit feed and when its out of biscuits there is no more smoke so the smoke timer on the new one means nothing.The timer on the cooking side has a time limit according to the Bradley owners so you can't leave it more than ten hours without going out and resetting it.The temperature control is not reliable so what do you get for the extra bucks.Not much to my way of thinking.

By the way, look at the photo carefully.This unit is not aluminum.It has a door that is painted an aluminum color and the body is black.I have to say that the fit and finish is very nice on the unit.

My advice is buy the original model and save yourself the extra bucks.

Would recommend more length... Most Firemagics have the high heat zone deep, toward the back.

This Sojoe unit is worth the extra $50-100 you pay over the competitor's "look alike". This weighs 65lbs and theirs is 32 lbs for the same size.Heavy duty unit, solid welds and you get the grille(good quality), poker, spark cover(good quality, not lightweight) and heavy duty cover for it. Finish is a "rusted film" that needs an occasional vinyl brush scrubbing per the instructions.Such a heavy duty unit I doubt rust would be an issue. Cover fits all the way down to legs so it's well covered from the elements.Delivery was from Barr Brothers(West Coast) and only took a week to receive on East Coast.Well packaged and no damage in delivery.

Inventist LT00001 Leantisserie Freestanding Rotisserie Review

I have been interested in this product since I bought a house with an oven that came with a rotisserie.The rotisserie didn't work so I looked for one I could buy and put in the oven.This was the only one I could find on the internet.
It has 2 modes, 1 where it rotates a single large item like a chicken ect. and another where it can rotate 5 skewers at the same time for kebabs.
For a rotisserie it is fairly lightweight. It's made from fairly heavy chrome plated sheet metal.
I had a few major problems getting it to work. The first problem I had with it is that couple of parts that needed to be fitted together wouldn't fit due to poor manufacturing quality.The other problem is that a couple of other parts needed to be located to engage with each other work and they didn't engage preventing it from working in the 1st mode.The parts were off by an 1/8" which is terrible by modern manufacturing quality standards. Also it claims to be dishwasher safe but came out of the dishwasher with rusty spots.I'm an engineer working in a factory so I'll fix these issues myself, but I can't recommend this product to anyone.This is the first and last inventist product I'll ever buy.

Cut to fit GrillGrates for 22" Weber Kettle Review

I received this a few weeks ago and tried it out the other night on 4 eight oz. Filet Mignons.Grat grill marks, no flare ups and very juicy Filets. It is on the expensive side but I had to splurge for the Weber Performer as I LOVE TO GRILL.Covers majority of grill thus no wasted space.Very quality durable material that should last a VERY long time.Be careful though as the edges that were cut to fit the Weber are VERY VERY sharp and could cause deep nasty cuts.Surprised the company did not round down as this could be a lawsuit in the making.

Down-side.....if you Google this item you can find a $20 off coupon and order it from the manufactures site (I found the next day after ordering from Amazon). I email the company and 3 weeks later NO ANSWER. Poor customer service.If they offer the discount THEN OFFER IT TO EVERYONE!Sharp edges could cause severe cuts.

Gave if 4 stars for price and poor customer service (too bad Amazon can't breakdown the starts by category).

Fire Magic Rotisserie Chicken Holder Review

You don't know good until you taste fresh rotisserie bird. Not sitting on the shelf for an hour super market fresh but right off the grill fresh.

I own two of these and use them on my Twin Eagles grill. It fits the hex shaped larger diameter rod. With this chicken holder, you do not need to truss up the chicken. Keeps it simple. My best recipe is to rub the skin with olive oil and season with salt and pepper once the rotisserie starts to turn. The basic salt and pepper works better than any fancy seasoning. Chickens seem to take an hour and a half. My 14lb turkey took 4 hours. I usually slightly over cook the bird but prefer how the bird falls apart. With rotisserie, the meat does not get dry. Wrap a small log in foil and put it near the burner.

This Thanksgiving, I bent the holder apart and used this to rotisserie a 14 pound turkey (wings removed). This was used in the front and prongs in the back of the bird. Best turkey yet.

Bayou Classic 7406, 6-Qt. Cast Iron Soup Pot with Cast Iron Lid Review

The ad states rough and rugged. What a dummy, I though they meant the quality, not the finish. There was three casting blobs of metal around the top that I spent 45 minutes fileing so the top would come close to closing. I washed with hot water and soap. No help in removing the heavy wax coating. God only knows whats in the Chinese wax, they don't mind using all sorts of poisons in the toys and products they ship to America. I then filled with water and boiled it, followed by another cleaning with soap and water. I then coated with shortning and baked for an hour at 300. A day later I was making a stew and as the meat was simmering I removed the lid. The condesation from the cover dripped on the stove. It was BLACK!! I wiped the inside of the pot above the simmering broth and the paper towel was Black. I have used and owned cast iron for over 35 years. I own over 25 piece's as I do a lot of large scale camp cooking over every type of heating source and have never had this problem. I only own a few pieces of cheap Chinese cast iron but have never run into this problem in the past. It cost me one large dinner already. One other reviewer had the right idea. Use this pot only for some weeds sticking out. Unless you have iron poor blood I would not recomended using this for food.
